Barcelona's famous boulevard — 1.2 km from Plaça de Catalunya to the sea. Touristy but essential for orientation. The Boqueria market entrance is halfway down but skip the market itself (too touristy and expensive now).

Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic)
Barcelona's medieval heart — narrow streets with Roman walls beneath, Gothic churches and hidden plazas. Get deliberately lost between the Cathedral and Plaça Reial.

El Born Tapas
El Born neighbourhood has Barcelona's best tapas bars — Bar del Pla, El Xampanyet and La Vinya del Senyor (wine bar with Sagrada Família views) are all excellent and genuinely local.

Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece — the most-visited monument in Spain. Book tickets WEEKS in advance including tower lift access at sagradafamilia.org. Arrive at opening time (9am). The interior is overwhelmingly beautiful — do not miss it.

Park Güell
Gaudí's mosaic terrace garden — the dragon staircase, coloured columns and panoramic city view. Book the Monumental Zone ticket at parkguell.barcelona — free access everywhere else in the park.

Barceloneta Beach Sunset
Barcelona's city beach is 4.2 km of golden sand. Evening swim, then a beer at La Cova Fumada — tiny bar, no sign, legendary — then seafood on the Passeig Marítim.
