The 2-hour drive from Dubai over the Hajar Mountains to Fujairah is spectacular. The Al Dhaid road passes ancient forts, palm oases and dramatic rocky passes. A mini road trip in itself.

Fujairah Fort
The oldest fort in the UAE (16th century) overlooks Fujairah's old town and the Gulf of Oman. Well preserved with good museum inside.

Seafood Market Restaurant Fujairah
Buy fresh fish from the market and have it cooked to order — the freshest seafood you'll eat in the UAE. Located on the Fujairah Corniche.

UAE's only national park — beautiful wadi with freshwater pools and waterfalls in the Hajar Mountains. A rare ecosystem with native fish, birds and vegetation. Hire a 4WD from Fujairah.

Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre
Beautiful east coast town with the only natural deepwater port on the Gulf of Oman. The turquoise bay with green mountains behind is one of the UAE's most scenic spots.

Sharjah Art Museum
On the return drive, Sharjah's magnificent art museum has the Arab world's largest collection of Arab art. Free entry. A hidden gem.
