Rhodes Medieval Town & Lindos
Walk the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe, then climb to the acropolis above Lindos bay

The itinerary.
4 days · 11 stops
Friday
Day One
Step inside the walls of the medieval city — the largest still lived-in in Europe — and follow the Street of the Knights up to the Grand Master's palace.
●
Street of the Knights
Walk the cobbled lane lined with the medieval inns of the Knights Hospitaller, one of the best-preserved Gothic streets anywhere.
●
Palace of the Grand Master
Tour the vast crusader fortress-palace, its halls floored with ancient mosaics carried over from Kos.
●
Dinner in the old town
Eat under the walls in a courtyard taverna — grilled octopus, fava, and Rhodian wine as the swallows wheel overhead.

Drive down the east coast to Lindos, where a whitewashed village climbs to an acropolis hung between the sky and a perfect blue bay.
●
Acropolis of Lindos
Climb past the ancient trireme carved in the rock to the temple of Athena Lindia, the Aegean spread out on every side.
●
St Paul's Bay
Look down on the near-enclosed cove where the apostle is said to have landed, its water an unreal turquoise.
●
Lindos village lanes
Wander the car-free white alleys and captains' houses with their pebble-mosaic courtyards below the citadel.

Day Three
Trade stone for sea — the neoclassical harbour of Mandraki, the fluttering Valley of the Butterflies, and the sandspit where two seas meet at Prasonisi.
●
Mandraki Harbour
Stand where the Colossus of Rhodes once straddled the entrance, now marked by two bronze deer and the old windmills on the mole.
●
Valley of the Butterflies
Walk a shaded stream valley that fills each summer with thousands of Jersey tiger moths clinging to the storax trees.
●
Prasonisi — the two seas
See the calm Aegean and the wind-whipped Mediterranean meet across a single sandbar at the island's southern tip.
